Current Event for the week of 10/12

U.S. Military looking at alternatives incase Turkey cuts access.

Because of growing tension between the U.S. and Turkey, Turkey may decide to end some road access or even completely cut off American access to raod ways and our air base. Since there is so much cargo going into Iraq through Turkey, the U.S. is deciding they may need to find other options incase Turkey goes through with this cut off.

Read the article here.

Do you think it's neccessary for the U.S. to find other sources to get our supplies to Iraq? Is the Turkish Goverenment just in its reasoning for cutting of American access? What affect do you think this will have on the U.S. military's fight aqainst terror?

the us should have backup plans. If we can find other sources that can only help us. We don't really know how the whole thing is going to turn out, but we have to be prepared and keep our options open. I guess you can't be too trusting. We are at war here. We just need to be concerned with our military safety and finding alternative routes to help our troops do their job.

I think that finding another option to get supplies into Iraq can only be helpful especially, if Turkey decides to cut us off. Even though we are not at war with Turkey, we have involved them by using our airbases in their country. I think that we should be concerned, if they back out they will be limiting our access into Iraq. This will make it more complicated to get the necessary supplies to are troops.

I think it's a really good thing that the U.S. is being safe and finding other routes in case Turkey does go through with their plan. I think it's kind of dumb that Turkey is doing this because of something that has happened a long time ago, does it really matter if we're allies now? I guess nothing like that ever really matters in war anyway.

rcj1991I think we defianetly need to find another source for supplies because we need them. If Turkey isn't going to supply then we need to find something else to do. I don't think Turkey was just because they made a commitment and they need to stick to it. I'm not sure how it will effect the war.

How could it not be necessary to find another source? They obviously have to get supplies to Iraq, I guess. If they can't do it the way they have been, then they have to find a new way. They might as well be prepared instead of Turkey cutting connections one day and they just say "oh, crap. now what?" I don't think it will have a large affect on how the U.S. fights terror. How can someone fight an idea strong and well, anyway? Rolls eyes.

i think that it is necessary for the U.S. to find other ways, because then we wont have any other way to get to and from iraq. Actually, we shouldn't have entered the iraqi war in the first place, but that's a whole other debate. Also, this will jsut give terrorists more chances to attack us when we are obviously vulnerable for the amount of time that we are struggling.

We should have actually already had a plan to get around Turkey. Why should we always worry about who is helping us when we should try and help ourselves.

THe u.s should try to find other ways to get supplies into Iraq because the war is escalating and certian countries don;'t want to be involved anymore. We need more than one way to get into Iraq to help our boys fighting. No matter if you support the war or not, our men are still over there fighting and we should support all that they do and try to help out the government keep our boys safe even if that means opening up a ton af other passes into Iraq!
