Shawn Mohan, 20, was arrested in January for shooting his infant son several times with a BB gun. Mohan said it was an accident, but the St. Charles County, Mo., sheriff pointed to similar bruises on the baby's face, left arm, hand, foot, hip and buttocks, and said Mohan was on probation for an earlier child-endangerment conviction.

I can't believe that an event like this even occured. I think that acts of violence aginst children are of the worst nature mainly because children are innocent and can't do anything to help themselves. I think that this man who shot his baby was a really bad parent. He said he shot his baby on accident but I don't see how that could possibly be true. I am appaled by his actions and think that he deserves to be locked up for good.
This is a very deplorable act, in any society. Children are the future of our society, and to abuse them is to ruin them. It is said that when a father beats his son, the son will grow up to beat his son, and so on. It is a trait that should be stopped at all costs. In my opinion the father should be arrested and locked away somewhere where he can't ever do this again, and the son should be placed somewhere where he can grow up in some form of stability without being hurt. There is no accident that could ever happen to cause such bruising, and he knew exactly what he was doing when he had the gun even around his child.
I think this is a horrible story.
I hate that this happens..this also shows that not everything is perfect in this world that we live in. I've heard other child abuse storys and all of them are horrible. To think that someone would even think of harming a child, let alone doing it. I think that anyone who would harm a person let alone a child is a sick person and should be locked up for a long time!
What are people thinking?! I really think we should license who can be parents. I mean we license people who can drive right. Why: because the lives of other people are in our hands. Well isn’t that exactly what happens when you have a kid. You are now in charge and responsible for that life. People are just crazy. Someone I know works in a homecare facility and she sees the results of child abuse a lot and some of it is so disturbing. I feel bad for all the kids who had no chance just because they were born to the wrong people/person.
How could someone take ans say this is an accident! There is no reason to have any kind of gun pointed at a young child or anyone at that matter. Evn if it was an accident this man should never get away with something like this. IS he going to say the other bruises are accidents too? I dont understand why someone would ever want to shoot their child. Its like its another one of them that they are shooting or abusing. I dont think child abuse is being taken as seriously as it should. This child will live with long term affects from this. They may not have their real father in their life and many other things.
Why would anyone do something like this? This is just wrong. If you want to shoot something, shoot a target. A child this young can't possibly do anything to defend itself. This man is sick, and should be locked up.
I cannot believe what I read was even true. No one should have a baby if they are not going to take care of it. Babies are so innocent and someone has to be out of their mind to want to hurt one. Child abuse is become a prevalent problem in our society and one that needs to be stopped. I think it is terrible what this man did, and he should be punished severely.
