i know that if you knew some of the things that dont get filter out of tap water you wouldnt drink it. but that doesnt make bottle better it can still be just a "unclean". really the best thing is to buy your own filter system and filter your water. and by the way yes 8 glasses of water a day is good for you and your body. and for anyone that doesnt know if you drink to much you can drown yourself, yes it is possible, too much of anything can kill you.
First of all, drinking too much water doesn't mean that you will die via drowning. When someone dies from drinking too much water, the cause of death is usually hypnoatremia (also called water intoxication). If you want to know more about water poisoning, google it, I don't feel like explaining it.
Secondly, I don't see a large problem with bottled water. I definitely agree with the author of the article in saying that bottled water is far more convenient than tap water. I wish that more people would recycle their bottles though. It would be nice to see an increase in the number of recycling bins throughout the nation. On top of recycling at recycling stations, refilling old bottles would be a great way to save money and resources.
Third, I like water. I think that water is a great thing, and I prefer it to almost every other type of beverage. I like the idea of using thirst as a gauge to measure how much water to intake daily. By using thirst as an intake gauge, you are allowing you body to monitor the amount of water you need. Chances are, you know your body better than some analysts doing research. Do what feels right. If your body is functioning properly then you are doing something right.
I agree that bottled water can be a good thing if the bottles are recycled. If they are not recycled, it takes plastic bottles hundreds of years to decay in landfills, severely affecting the environment. The cost isn't that bad compared to other drinks and with bottled water, people will be less tempted to drink pop and other sugary drinks.
I'm kind of annoyed by this article. I think people should be given some sort of state/tax refund if your household as some sort of recycling unit. i think more people would be willing to then recycle.
I think the author is too biased and is very judgemental of people who drink a lot of water. I drink a ton of water everyday and I'm one of those people who walk down the street with a water bottle; when walkin down the halls of PHS, my friends know to stop at the drinkin fountain if they are talking to me =]
I think some tap water is better or just as good as bottled. It just depends if it is filtered well water or city water.
I think the cost of recycling the bottled water and making it is worth it. You can go like 3-4 days without eating food, but you can only go one day without drinking water. Water is very important in our diets and anything to get it should be taken.
i dont think that bottled water is any better than tap water. besides as the article stated a lot of bottled water is just tap water and i mean is it really safer to drink the bottled water knowing that their can be contaminants in the plastic used to make the bottles.
I admit, that I drink bottled water a lot of the time. However, after reading this I realize how much money that it's wasting. It also isn't good for the environment since a lot of people don't recycle. I think the only times people should drink bottled water over tap water is when they're playing a sport or taking part in some physical activity. Water is water! I also heard that when you buy a bottle of water, accumulated, a gallon of water costs more than a gallon of gas!
If the tap water taste good and doesnt have anything added to it like bleach clorine or anything like that i would rather drink tap water so i would have to spen the money. But if the tap water does have added stuff then i will buy gallon of water and just fill up a bottle of water. A bottle of water cost $1.00 a jug of water cost 30 cents. So i spend less on jugged water than bottled. But all in all i would rather just drink tap water if i could.
If more people purchased bulk bottled water it wouldn't be nearly as much of a "problem". Instead of buying one bottle for $1, buy a pack of 24 for $3.50. Bottled water is generally convenient. It's about smart shopping.
And no, tap isn't better than bottled. The tap water at my house tastes horrible.
What really is the benefit of bottled water? All of our tap water in the US has to pass inspections...it's not like it's not safe to drink. All of these bottles take up space in landfills...especially since people don't recycle.
