"Popcorn Lung" Patient Ate Two Bags A Day
Wayne Watson loved microwave popcorn so much he would eat at least two bags each night, breathing in the steam from the just-opened package, until doctors told him it may have made him sick.

What do you think about the story? How would you feel if someone told you that the thing you loved to eat the most was extremely affecting your health negatively? Would you believe them and take precautions just in case, or ignore them, possibly causing more harm to yourself?

i thought this story was crazy. i never would have thought that popcorn would make soembody that sick. it really makes you think about other foods that could make us sick too. If doctors told me that a favorite food of mine was making me sick, I would have to change my eating habits. It might be hard to cut down on that favorite food, but if it keeps me healthy it's worth it.
Anything can be detrimental to your health if you eat too much of it, even healthy foods. Besides, this isn't a case about the food the guy was eating being harmful. It's the fumes he was breathing in off of it. I think his medical condition could have been prevented if he just let the popcorn cool in the bag for a minute or something before opening it. That way, when he did open it, there wouldn't be a sudden burst of steam and harmful fumes going straight into his nostrils.
WHoaa! That was a crazy thought that this man was loosing his lung capacity because of eating microwave popcorn! By the end of the story it sounded like he was mostly just out of shape and overweight maybe? But anyways, if my doctor told me I might need to stop eating a food that I loved I might not be able to do it. Many people know that I love my food and so really any food I eat would be hard to cut out of my normal "diet". This guy must have thought this woman was crazy when she first told him his problems were related to eating popcorn! I guess I would try to cut back, but I don't think I would totally stop eating it. I thnk everyone needs to keep a healthy balance of all foods they eat because over eating any kind of food would cause some sort of disfunction. But if this could be a real problem then doctors and scientists need to look more into this.
this story doesnt seem ver logical to me. I find it very hard to believe that just popcorn make him as sick as it said he was. The article didnt go on to say anything about his other eating habits. He might have ate six hamburgers everyday after he ate his popcorn but it doesnt tell you. If he had to lose 35 pounds to make himself feel better i dont think it was 100 percent popcorn that mad him sick.
I would be so mad if I found out that my favorite food was seriously hurting my health. I guess the only reason it was hurting him was because he was just eating too much of it. If that were me I would definitely cut down on eating it. It would be hard but I would if my health was in danger.
