Boy, 17, charged as adult in killing of NFL's Taylor
According to CNN.com, Eric Rivera was tried for the murder of NFL's Washingtons Redskins Sean Taylor. Rivera broke into Taylor's home on November 24 trying to steal a few items. He thought no one was home but he was wrong. Three other people who happend to be with rivera at the time, were tried as well.

What do you think Rivera's punishment should be? Do you think all 4 people should be punished or just Rivera? Do you think Rivera and his companions were involved in the first break in attempt 8 days earlier? Do you think theres more to the story than just a robery?Why or why not?

I think that with the burglary and murder he should be sentenced to life. The gun he had probably didn't even have a license because he is only 17 so that is another offense against him. The other people who were with him should definately also get punished because they were there and they knew what was going on. They are guilty by association so yes they should get punished, maybe not as long but there should be punishment. I don't think there was really anything behind the story I just think it was a bunch of kids robbing a rich mans house.
I think Rivera should get what just about everybody else gets for killing somebody..the death penalty or life in prison. His "friends" should get equally as bad sentences because it could have been any one of them who would have shot Taylor. There's a lot of things going against this kid and I'm glad he got tried as an adult. I personally don't think there was anything else behind this story..he's a football player so everybody knows he's going to be rich. People do some crazy things for money. I don't think they really intended to kill him or anything like that. They obviously didn't find what they were looking for the first time they broke into his house.
I think that just on the count of murder alone he should be sentenced to death. I'm a firm believer in the eye for an eye policy. I think that his friends should be punished for being there, just not as severely as him.
I think he should be put in jail for life. Even though he is 17, he still should be tried as an adult because he is old enough to take respnsibility for his own actions. I think all of them should be put in jail for even being a part of it. Even if they didn't do anything, just the fact that they were willing to go along should be enough. People need to take responsibility for their actions, and pay their debts to society when they screw up. I think they were involved in the murder a few days earlier. It doesn't seem like a coincidence.
I think the boy should get life in prison, because i think that if you kill someone you should have to live forever thinking about what you did. Although, murder is awful i don't think the boy should be tried as an adult because he is only 17. He broke a lot of crimes and should defianetly have to live with it for the rest of his life.
I think that the boys should be charged the same way any other murderer is. They should get a count of murder and however many accounts of theft. It doesn't really matter to me that he killed an NFL player. All that really matters was that another person was killed. I personally think that anybody that takes anothers life should be killed themselves.
All parties involved should be convicted ao breaking and entering as well as agrivated robery. As for Rivera he should be convicted of murder along with th other two charges. They should also investigate where the gun came from seeing as how Rivera is a minor. If the gun was sold to him then the person who sold it to him should be charged with selling a gun illegaly to a minor.
I think this story is crazy and i feel really bad for sean taylors family. The person that killed him should be punished the same that he would be punish if he kill someone that wasnt a famous athlete. I think there was a lot to this story that we dont know about. Especially since there was a knife left on his pillow a couple days before he was shot. I dont really have any idea of what it could be but it could have something to do with drugs, gambling, etc.
I think he definitely should get a first degree murder charge and burglary. his friends that helped him deserve the same type of punishment as he does because they were all involved. it wasnt just rivera. he does deserve to get tried as an adult because he did some serious stuff that shouldnt be taken lightly. they were obviously after his money and that is the story.
i think that all 4 people should be tried, because regardless of who did it, they supported it. I also think they did break in the other times trying to steal things.
